Who We Are
Ministry to Williams College Students

During this interim year without a full time Youth and Campus Minister, Fr. Peter Elvin, other St. John’s staff members, and several parishioners remain committed to nurturing student ministry.

Student leadership at St. John's: There’s a long heritage of student leadership at St. John’s.  Several sing in our choir, some administer the chalice, others help lead our children’s programs—still others join each summer’s intergenerational medical mission trip to Latin America.  The worship offered by this congregation, often experimental, is deeply enriched by the presence of students.   For more information: Barbara Kourajian (Organist & Choir Director, bkour@roadrunner.com), Jacki Petrino (interim Youth Minister, jpetrino@roadrunner.com), Jimmy Bergin (helps coordinate youth music, jsbergin@gmail.com), or The Rev. Peter Elvin (Rector, ptelvin@roadrunner.com

WILLIAMS STUDENTS - COME TO THE FEAST

There's always a place at the table for you at The Feast - a weekly gathering of Willliams College students whose roots are in the "main line" or "progressive" Christian traditions - or who are just interested in exploring spirituality, sacred texts, and the nature of faithful community. We gather every Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in the Upper Room at St. John'sEpiscopal Church (directly across Park Street from the Paresky Center) for a home-cooked meal (always vegetarian/vegan-friendly), fellowship, and a simple, reflective service of worship drawn from the life of the Iona Community in Scotland. For more information about The Feast, click here, or contact Williams College Chaplain Rick Spalding at Richard.Spalding@williams.edu or 597-2483, Courtney Schirr '08 at Courtney.Schirr@williams.edu, or Casey York '10 at Casey.E.York@williams.edu.

Host Families for Wiliams Students: College students wishing for a home away from home need only say that, in order to be linked-up with a parish household ready to host them.  Contact Julia Bolton (Julia@boltonfamily.us).

Faith Formation in Parish Fellowship: All adult education programs in the parish welcome the participation of students. Consult News and Events or the weekly service bulletin for information about them. Also, Fr. Peter Elvin (ptelvin@adelphia.net)  welcomes students to join his annual ten-week Christian Foundations series, which has been useful to people considering being confirmed or received in the Episcopal Church.
